Update from a ODS, Thursday, March 12:
We caught newts yesterday,
studied them, went on a hike, and went to the beach and found mystery items to study. It has been raining intermittently and the beach is windy, but that hasn’t stopped intrepid sixth graders from returning during recreation time at the end of the afternoon! We also have games and basketball after twice daily science field studies.

We’re eating great food, the cabins are cozy and warm, and we’ve made some new friends from Le Monde, a French immersion school in Portland who are here with us for the week.

Today we begin working on self-chosen final science projects which they will present tomorrow in poster or skit form.

It’s great to have our amazing Rainier high school counselors taking such good care of our sixth graders and inspiring them.

We will be tired and happy to see our family, friends, and pets tomorrow (Friday, 3/13) in Rainier!
