Dear Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! Whether you are returning or joining us for the first time, we are thrilled to partner with you on your student’s educational journey.

New Changes, Same Commitment to Excellence

This year brings important transitions to our school. We are now a preschool through fifth grade elementary school, as our sixth graders have moved to Rainier Junior Senior High School. While recent budget reductions and staffing adjustments present new challenges, our commitment to academic excellence remains unwavering. Our staff is dedicated to strengthening core reading and math skills while nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Through targeted small-group support, individualized tutoring, and data-informed instruction, we are focused on helping every student thrive. You can expect regular progress updates from teachers throughout the school year, along with ideas to support learning at home.

Attendance Matters

At Hudson Park Elementary, every school day is a fresh opportunity to learn, connect, and grow! We love seeing our students bright and early, and we are thrilled to partner with you to give your student a joyful, inspiring education.

  • School Hours & Punctuality: School begins at 8:00 AM, and students arriving after 8:15 AM are marked tardy. Arriving on time allows students to enjoy breakfast, connect with classmates and staff, and start their day calm and ready to learn.
  • Understanding Chronic Absenteeism: In Oregon schools, missing 10% or more of school days, just 2 days a month or 18 days a year (excused or unexcused), is categorized as chronic absenteeism. Keeping absences below this threshold helps ensure your student stays on track academically and socially!
  • Absences & State Regulations: If your student needs to miss school, please notify our attendance line. To remain aligned with Oregon law, regular attendance is required, and any student absent for 10 consecutive school days must be withdrawn and re-enrolled upon return.
  • We’re Here to Help: We know mornings can be tough! If your family faces challenges getting to school on time or maintaining consistent attendance, please reach out. We are eager to partner with you and support your family's routine.

Throughout the year, we will celebrate individual and classroom attendance milestones to recognize our students' efforts. Thank you for prioritizing daily attendance and helping our HPE community thrive!

Above all, our goal is for every Hudson Park student to feel safe, appreciated, and fully empowered to grow, both in the classroom and as individuals. This year will be packed with opportunities to learn, discover, and grow. We are thrilled to partner with your family to help your student shine. Let’s make it a fantastic year together!

Warmly,
